Supporting Local Music

 In a move to curb piracy, Mdundo service was born. The move is to encourage us to support our local artistes at an affordable price of only Ksh.100 for five tracks from your favourite artiste. The unique bit about it is not only are the artists given the cards free of charge but they also get to pocket 100percent revenue generated from selling their cards. However, if Mdundo sales more cards than the artist, they (artistes) get to be paid thirty percent of the revenue.

The Mdundo card has a pin which is revealed to you upon scratching. The procedure is very simple, after scratching the card one is required to go to mdundo.com, enter the scratch card’s PIN and your phone number then finally download the music to your phone. The selected few Mdundo decided to partner with include some of Kenya’s popular artistes and they now have the option of choosing to sell their music or giving it away for free. Rapdamu, Sosuun, Kenrazy, Gin Ideal, Nebulazz, T-Mee and Caltoz Jinamizi are some of the artists who chose to consider their fans and give away their music for free.
